DIY: Crochet Alphabet Pillows

Hi Lovelies! I’m excited to share a DIY that I used to decorate my sister’s dorm room. My sister had gotten an Ikea duvet (seen here) for her bed, but the duvet’s colors (bright pink, orange, black, and white) made it a little hard to find pillows that coordinated with the colors and didn’t clash with the unique pattern. For this project, I drew inspiration from thick textures, initials, and bright colors!

These pillows are cute and whimsical and they are a snap to make if you are familiar with crochet! I would say that these pillows are in between a beginner and intermediate level. It might seem like there are a lot of steps, but bear with it! I promise it is easier than all the text may seem. If you are a beginner to crochet and feel like a challenge, there are wonderful tutorials for the stitches available online for the different stitches and techniques I use here.

Supplies you’ll need
{the pillows are approximately 10” x 10”)

  • Two skeins of Red Heart Classic yarn. I used half a skein of Grenadine and Orange. If you prefer a softer yarn, I would choose a different brand, but Red Heart is a great and cheap yarn for projects.
  • A J hook needle. If you are using a different yarn, check the gauge.
  • Polyfill stuffing (available here but you should check your local crafts store as the prices are often better).
